Welcome to Our Community
Thank you for joining our community of parents, caregivers, and healthcare professionals dedicated to helping children navigate the sometimes challenging world of taking medicine. This blog is an extension of the book "Noah Takes His Medicine," which was born from real-life experiences and professional insights.
As many parents know, getting children to take their medicine can be a daily struggle. Whether it's the taste, texture, or simply the concept of swallowing pills, many children resist taking medication, which can be stressful for both the child and their caregivers.
Our Mission
Our mission is to provide practical, evidence-based strategies that make medicine time easier for everyone involved. Through this blog, we'll share:
- Simple behavioral techniques that help children swallow pills and liquid medications
- Stories from other parents who have successfully navigated medication challenges
- Expert advice from healthcare professionals
- Creative approaches to make medicine time more enjoyable
The Story Behind the Book
"Noah Takes His Medicine" was inspired by a real-life experience. When Dr. David Lipton's son, Aaron, was diagnosed with leukemia at age 3½, the family faced the daunting task of getting a young child to take 20-40 medications daily. Drawing on his professional training as a psychologist, Dr. Lipton developed simple behavioral strategies that helped Aaron learn to swallow pills.
Within just two hours of implementing these techniques, Aaron was able to swallow a pill without difficulty. This personal experience became the inspiration for 'Noah Takes His Medicine,' aiming to help other families facing similar challenges.
